The work of John Ceiriog Hughes (1832-1887)
The aim of the research is to assess the life and work of the poet John Ceiriog Hughes (1832-1887). Bethan will examine specific elements of the poet’s life and work overlooked by literary critics in the past. She will offer views on Ceiriog’s time in Manchester and his contribution to the Welsh diaspora there, as well as his contribution to the world of satire under the pen name 'Syr Meurig Grynswth'.
