Teaching Profile

Dr Llion Pryderi Roberts is a lecturer teaching on the Welsh-language Sabbatical Scheme. Cardiff University is one of three establishments currently running the scheme which is funded by the Welsh Government. It offers the opportunity for Welsh-language and pedagogical training for those who wish to teach, lecture or train wholly or partially through the medium of Welsh or bilingually.

Research

Research Projects

Llion was a Research Assistant working on the project ‘Performing from the Pulpit', a study of orality and performance in the dramatic preaching of nineteenth- and twentieth-century Wales. Other interests include the adjudications of the National Eisteddfod in the first half of the twentieth century and twentieth-century strict-metre poetry, particularly the eisteddfodic ‘awdl’. In 2002, he was awarded an MPhil for his dissertation on the eisteddfodic adjudications of Sir John Morris-Jones. He is currently working on a PhD thesis on the development of Welsh biographical writing, focusing mainly on the lives written by Rev. Owen Thomas (Liverpool) to the notable and powerful preachers John Jones, Tal-y-sarn and Henry Rees.
