Research Interests
Dr Patrick Carlin’s main research interests lie within language policy and planning. His research up to the present has dealt with the effects of state-wide and regional multi-level governance upon efforts by subregional governments in the Basque Country, Catalonia and Wales to devise and implement language policies. Other related interests include linguistic mobilisation and political parties, critical interpretations of language planning, the sociology of language and the politics of culture.

Research Project
Patrick is currently research associate with a Welsh Assembly Government funded research project which is investigating how acquisition of the Welsh language by adults could be improved.
