Flexible Access Routes

Cardiff University offers more than 300 undergraduate degree programmes and a modular system which provides a large degree of flexibility and choice. Many programmes allow students to defer their choice of specialism until after the second year, whilst others provide intensive preparation from the start. More than 50 programmes also benefit from professional recognition.

The University recognises that many of the professional degree programmes are extremely competitive and entry requirements are high, possibly precluding applications from some students from groups under-represented in higher education. To help address this, the University is developing additional routes onto selected full-time undergraduate degree programmes. For instance, Cardiff School of Medicine has developed feeder courses to its Medical degree. These feeder courses are the School's BSc Medical Pharmacology degree and the BSc Medical Sciences degree offered by the University of South Wales. Similar links with a number of degree programmes offered by Cardiff School of Biosciences and Bangor University are under consideration.

In addition the University is developing its flexible part-time postgraduate opportunities as well as the 'gateway' courses and learning pathways offered by the Centre for Lifelong Learning.
