About us

We bring together academics from Cardiff Business School and School of Engineering with operational practitioners from the supply chain and logistics industry to tackle important contemporary problems in logistics and manufacturing operations management.

Founded in 2013 as the Panalpina Research Centre (PARC), the Institute is shaping the medium to long-term future of the logistics and supply chain industry.

Over the years, we have been able to jointly identify future manufacturing and supply chain trends, and build our research in anticipation of this changing environment.

We conduct fundamental research, funded either directly by research councils or undertaken through doctoral investigations, and translate its outputs to business insights and commercially viable solutions.

Based at Cardiff Business School, the centre is partially funded by DSV. DSV also sponsor a seminar room in Cardiff Business School’s Postgraduate Teaching Centre, a £13.5 million building custom-made to meet the needs of our students.

We operate on the basis of transferring knowledge to the wider logistics community.

We have received several awards for our collaborative work, which has also been showcased in the media.

We complement our research and knowledge transfer activities with curriculum development and delivery through a range of initiatives, including:

  • guest lectures and seminars from industry partners to our students
  • workshops and tailored training
  • student placements
  • sponsored MSc dissertations
  • company field tours.

We have also co-designed the PARC Academy, a training programme for industry partner employees which aims to provide the skills to run a successful business and unlock each individual's potential.

Our partners offer a wide range of career opportunities for students and graduates.
