Eating Our Way to Sustainability
Wednesday 18th November 2009
A Sustainability Week Debate
Venue: School of Optometry and Vision Science, Cardiff University, Maindy Road, Cardiff
Time: 6pm for 6.30pm start
- Should we only eat locally produced, organic food?
- Is eating locally produced food worse for the world than buying fair trade produce from faraway developing nations?
- Has a cheap food culture in the UK extolled quantity over quality?
- Do we have a culture which sets a premium on ever lower prices?
- What really is the best way to eat our way to sustainability?
This is your chance to let us know what you really think – this is the Sustainability Week Debate.
Jane Davidson, Minister for the Environment, Sustainability & Housing will join a number of other panellists drawn from student, academic and business communities to debate the big questions, in what will be a topical, lively and entertaining Question Time-style debate. The event will be chaired by Professor Kevin Morgan. Other panel members include Steve Garrett, Chair of Riverside Community Market Association, and Dr Pam Robinson, School of Social Sciences.
This event is free of charge and open to the public. A reception will follow the debate.
Numbers are limited. Please RSVP to publicity@cardiff.ac.uk with the name of the event in the subject box.
The ‘Sustainability Week Debate’ has been organised with the support of the Cardiff University Debating Society.
