Cardiff University Opportunity Awards
We are keen to ensure that all students who have the potential to succeed at Cardiff University have the opportunity to study here.
We are very aware that asylum seekers and the children of asylum seekers are often unable to access mainstream UK student funding. Therefore, we are making available two awards to students who are either asylum seekers or children of asylum seekers. Our awards will cover the cost of tuition and provide a non-repayable grant of £4,000pa to support your living costs.
How to apply
To apply for an award you should:
- have submitted or be a dependant of someone who has submitted an asylum application before you applied to UCAS and have not yet received a decision
- be unable to access mainstream UK student funding due to your residence status
- currently hold an offer from Cardiff University to start year one of a full time undergraduate course in September 2017 (excluding Medicine, Dentistry and NHS funded degree programmes)
- read the full terms and conditions
Cardiff University offer holders can submit a completed application form between 15 January and 5 May 2017.
Selection for these awards will be based on your individual circumstances and potential.
In selecting candidates, preference may be given to students who have attended a minimum of three years in secondary education in Wales or can show established links in Wales for a minimum of three years.
An initial shortlist will be compiled by the start of July and unsuccessful students notified at this time.
Successful candidates will be notified by the end of August 2017.
