Master's Excellence Scholarships 2017

We are pleased to announce that the Taught Masters Excellence Scholarship Scheme for 2017/18 entry has been confirmed.

If you're applying for a UK Government postgraduate loan then you are still eligible to apply for a Master’s Excellence Scholarship.

We are committed to investing up to a total of £500,000 in this high value competitive scholarship scheme to support home and EU students who are planning to start an eligible master's programme in September 2017.

The Scholarships are each worth £3,000 and will be awarded in the form of a tuition fee discount.

“This scholarship package will give high-calibre students the opportunity to study at a world-leading, research-intensive university and help ease the associated financial burdens.”

Professor Colin Riordan, Vice-Chancellor

Scholarships will be awarded based on academic excellence and are only available for UK/EU students.

If you are an international student, please see our international scholarships. If you are unsure of your eligibility, you will need to check your fee status before you apply for a Master's Excellence Scholarship.

We have two deadlines after which scholarship decisions will be made:

  • 15 March 2017
  • 5 July 2017

You can normally apply for a Master's Excellence Scholarship 24 hours after you have applied for your course, you don't have to wait until you have received your offer.

A link to the application form is available on the SIMS Applicant Portal.

For those that wish to apply for the 2017/18 Master's Excellence Scholarship Scheme, please consult the FAQ, eligibility criteria and application guidance documents before submitting an application.
