The Graduate Centre provides year-round, centrally-located social and study facilities to both taught and research postgraduate students, in addition to the facilities provided by individual Academic Schools.

We provide a hub for postgraduates of all disciplines, allowing students the opportunity to meet and socialise within the broader postgraduate community.

Excellent study facilities

Group work

There are meeting rooms for workshops, project groups, seminars and presentations. Group study is welcomed in the Coffee Lounge, where you will also find additional computers for checking email.

Individual study

We have a variety of options for you ranging from individual study pods, to our quiet Computer Room, offering a welcome change from your regular library or School study area.

With wireless internet access throughout the Centre, wireless access to the University’s computing network and a dedicated computer room with networked computers. There is a multifunction device for printing, scanning and copying in colour and black & white and additional desk space for laptop use.

Socialising at the Centre

Common Room

The Common Room has plenty of comfy seating and a student kitchen offering a great place to get away from the chaos of undergraduate life on campus. In the summer months you can also enjoy the best outdoor space on campus on our outdoor balcony.

The space can be hired free of charge for functions such as postgraduate conferences and seminars, meet & greet events and academic school parties.

The Graduate Centre works in partnership with the Students’ Union and the Postgraduate Students Association to offer social events.

Past and present Graduate Centre events include a Welcome Week, day trips, quiz nights, film screenings and seasonal parties. Students are encouraged to become involved in the planning of events through joining the postgraduate association committee.

Heath Park Postgraduate Space

Heath Park, the site shared by our Academic Schools and the University Hospital Wales, is where our healthcare-related courses are based.

The Postgraduate Space consists of a study area and social space. The study area is for private or group work and has access to the University Wi-Fi, projector and a networked computer. The social space has a number of sofas and seating to take a break from study. It also contains Freeview TV, a microwave, and hot drink making facilities.
