Wedding bells

15 April 2011

Mike Davey

Mike Davey, who works in the post room on Newport Road is marrying his long-term partner Debbie on 29th April. Here, Mike explains how the couple met and how he feels about sharing his big day with Prince William and Kate Middleton.

“I met Debbie in school” says Mike, “but she moved away to Oxford. I didn’t see her for around 20 years, but one Christmas Day I was out with friends in a pub and I saw her. We chatted for a while about old times. Six years later I saw her again and this time I asked her out. She said yes and we’ve been together ever since.

“The wedding is going to be on 29th April. We booked the wedding in January 2010 - we started that early so that we could make sure everything would go smoothly.

In October last year, William and Kate announced their wedding, and copied our date.

“We were contacted by BBC Radio Wales who are interviewing us about our plans – they’re calling it Cardiff’s own Royal Wedding! Our last interview will be on 22 April, a week before the big day. We are happy for William and Kate to share our date.”
