Stonewall Leadership Programme

29 July 2010

Stonewall

Now in its sixth year, Stonewall’s Leadership Programme is the UK’s only specifically designed course to help rising LGBT leaders unlock their career potential and maximise their contribution to their organisation.

This two-day residential will be moderated by Jo Bostock, a learning professional with extensive experience in coaching, organisational consultancy and career development. Ashridge Business School, who are hosting the programme again this year, will also share their own expertise on authentic leadership.

The University would like to fund two members of staff to attend the programme. A maximum of two applications per organisation will be accepted and successful applicants will be notified at the end of September.

We have asked Karen Cooke from Human Resources to apply because of her role as Chair of Enfys, our LGBT Staff Network, and because of her important strategic role in taking our Investors in People Initiative forward across the University.

To ensure that we have the best possible chance of having two applicants accepted, we would like to select one more person for our institutional nomination.

We are therefore asking those who are interested in being nominated to apply to the University using elements of the application process required by Stonewall themselves:

1. Send us a 200-word statement of why you are applying to this programme and what you hope to gain from it.

2.  Include a 100-word description of the leadership challenge you will work on over the two days of the programme.

3. Send us a one-page version of your current CV.

Stonewall and the University welcomes applications from across the lesbian, gay and bisexual communities.

Staff interested can send their applications to me via email at ThreadgoldT2@cardiff.ac.uk or address hard copies to me at Main Building, Room 0.46, Park Place, Cardiff CF10 3AT.

The deadline for applications is Monday 30 August 2010. Once we have received applications we will set up a small panel to be chaired by myself and including members of the LGBT Staff Network to select our two nominees.

We will then give them our fullest support in their applications to Stonewall.
