Anne James, Academic Administrator at the School of European Studies, discusses her 25 of service at Cardiff
Julia Bullough, School of English, Communication and Philosophy, was one of those marking 25 years of service. She first joined in 1985, working in the English Department at what was then the University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology (UWIST). She moved to Applied English Language Studies following merger in 1988. This subsequently became the Centre for Language and Communication, where she still works today as a Senior Administrator.

Looking back over her years at the University, Julia said: “My most enjoyable times at Cardiff were spent in the early/mid 90’s as the Centre was growing and taking on more and more new staff – it was a very exciting and rewarding time!
“My most interesting memories will be my time spent dealing with the cohort of Malaysian teachers who came to the department over a period of five years in the 90’s to follow our undergraduate BA programme. Also numerous overseas Academic Visitors, mainly from China and Pakistan who were so enthusiastic and interesting to have around the Centre. I have so many fond memories of them.”
Professor Terry Threadgold offered her appreciation to all those attending the ceremony. She said: “Their loyalty, commitment and support to the University, and to us all, over the years are what has made Cardiff the great university that it is. The success of any university depends on the quality, hard work and commitment of its staff. We are very fortunate at Cardiff to have staff of the highest quality working in all of the diverse areas and functions which it takes to run a large university.”
