PHEW Advert

As Positive Health and Environment Week approaches, Helen Harries who is leading the initiative this year lets us know more about what we can expect from the 2012 event.

“PHEW 2012 is fast approaching, commencing on 25th June and running through to 6th July.  Details of all the activities that you will be able to participate in will be available to view at the PHEW website  from the end of May.

“PHEW is an annual event for staff which provides opportunities to try a variety of activities relating to health, wellbeing and the environment.  These include a range of health and fitness checks, a wide variety of sport and fitness activities, workshops and talks, tours of local sites, adventure activities, and the PHEW ‘Drop-In Day’ where you can sample some free treats and visit  information stands .

“New to the programme this year are some vocal health sessions, including an ‘Inspire Choir’, opportunities to try your hand at some craft activities, a cookery session, and Sports Day for teams from School’s to participate in.

“The majority of activities, which are free to all members of staff, must be booked in advance using the online booking system  – full booking instructions for all activities can be found on the PHEW website.

“Staff are able to attend up to five activities during typical working hours at their manager’s discretion, and unlimited activities during lunch times or outside of working hours.  The activities will take place at a variety of times and locations across the University campus and in a number of external venues, to try to ensure that as many staff as possible are able to participate.

“For full details, including booking instructions, please visit or contact us on x79230 or with any queries.

“We look forward to seeing you at PHEW 2012!”
