The Vice-Chancellor’s development programme for Early Career Academics
Led by our incoming Vice-Chancellor, Professor Colin Riordan, Cardiff Futures is an innovative development programme. The programme is designed to support early career academics, and those relatively new to the University, to develop their career path and to explore how they might contribute to shaping the future of our University. The programme also seeks to promote collaborative working across disciplines.
Cardiff Futures will run from November 2012 to June 2013. The first session will focus on leadership and teamwork and will be followed by six more workshops. Two of the sessions will be residential.
In addition to the sessions themed around core aspects of the University, participants will be able to explore key trends shaping the changing landscape of Higher Education. Participants will also be able to explore, with senior leaders from our University and from other institutions, how the University’s strategic plans can respond to the range of constraints, imperatives and opportunities those changes present.
Twenty-four participants will be selected for the programme which will include some members of professional services staff.
As part of the programme, participants will collaborate together on projects that will benefit the University.
