Staff: New Face in Sport
20 September 2007
The University recently welcomed Paul Jones as a new member of the Sport & Exercise team. Having previously worked in a similar position at Swansea University, Paul has taken up the post of Sports Development Co-ordinator.
Head of Sport & Exercise, Gary Stephens says "We are delighted that Paul has joined the department and recognise that he brings with him a detailed understanding of student sport. The Sports Development Co-ordinator role is a key one for many reasons, not least in the ongoing development of the established Sports Bursary Programme".
Paul has extensive experience within student sport, specifically football, in terms of both participation and coaching. In 2003 he was a member of a BUSA Championship winning team and went on to compete in the European Universities championship in the same year.
Paul's office is located in the University Fitness & Squash Centre, 49 Park Place, however he plans to be available in the Athletic Union offices for part of the week.
On his appointment, Paul adds “I am excited by the challenge my new position presents and the opportunity it gives me to work within a department which is continuously looking to move forward. Sport is something that has always played a major role in my life and I feel my experiences will help with the task of supporting the Cardiff University Sports Bursars to achieve both their academic and sporting goals.”
