Fitness: Walking. A great way to burn calories not cash!

17 September 2010

Cardiff University Fitness & Squash Centre, 49 Park Place, are working in conjunction with the Welsh Assembly Government in delivering the Walk 4 Life scheme.

Change4Life is a campaign to help people be more active, eat well and live longer, launched in Wales in March this year.

Change4Life has designated Sunday 26th September as being the national day of walking and we are looking to create a buzz about walking during the week commencing Monday 20th September.

The University Fitness & Squash Centre has designed a 0.75 mile route around the civic centre of Cardiff. You will receive your own personal record card, a stamp will be given for each lap you walk. Returned & completed record cards will be entered into a prize draw. There are 10 laps on each record card.

The first question you might have is “Why should I go for a walk?”

The answer is that walking is a great way for you to be up and about, whether it’s walking to the shops, up stairs, or just going for a leisurely stroll at lunchtime with family, friends & colleagues. You don’t need any special equipment and it doesn’t cost anything either!

It’s not just a walk, it’s a workout!

Walk4Life starts on Monday 20th September & runs through until Sunday 26th September 2010.
