Description
This is one of a series of four workshops which have been commissioned by Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board as an inter-disciplinary work-based learning opportunity to extend practitioner's knowledge, skills and expertise to meet the needs of older people from all communities.
Workshop 4: This workshop aims to:
- Develop appropriate skills to meet the care needs of people with dementia
- Explore support mechanisms for family and carers of people with dementia
- Develop skills and abilities key to improving clinical practice
Please note: that there are two options for attendance. Participants are welcome to:
1. Enrol for one or more of the workshops which run one day per month from January 2012 - April 2012 and January 2013 - April 2013 as stand alone study activities.
Or:
2. Enrol for the module 'Achieving Excellence in the Care of Older People' (30 credits/BSc (Hons) in Clinical Practice). The next module commences January 2012 and comprises all four workshops, 08.30-10.00 on the first workshop day (January 18th), two further contact days (Wednesday 29th February 2012, Wednesday 4th April 2012), self-study and work-based assessments.
Please note students who have undertaken any or all of the workshops within 2 years prior to registering for the module will not need to repeat these. This means, for example, if you have attended workshops in the 2011 series, you would not need to attend them again if enrolling to begin the module in 2012. In this case, you would need only to attend any workshops missed, the 08.30-10.00 session on the first workshop day (January 18th) and the contact days. For further information please see:
