Remit:
Palliative care for children and young people with life limiting conditions is an active and total approach to care, embracing physical, emotional, social and spiritual elements. It focuses on enhancement of quality of life for the child and support for the family and includes the management of distressing symptoms, provision of short break care and care through death and bereavement. (ACT, RCPH, 1993)
Clients:
Children and Young People aged 0-18
Key Learning Opportunities:
Care of Children and Young People who have life limiting conditions.
Preparation For Practice:
This area is available for management opportunities in Module 9 in the BN programme and PLO7 in the September 12 onwards revised programme.
Shifts:
12.5 hour shifts 7am-7pm
Nights and weekends
Dress Code:
Smart Casual - no jeans.
