Key Learning Opportunities:
- To offer insight into the unique specialty of community based Palliative and End of Life Care Nursing provided by a non-statutory healthcare provider.
- Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of adults at the end of life
- Interdisciplinary working
- Opportunities to develop specialist knowledge working with Nurse Specialists)
Preparation For Practice:
In year three in the specialist placement students may be allocated to St.David’s Foundation for two- weeks as part of their palliative care rotation which includes 3 week at St Anne’s Hospice and 1 week with the Hospital Palliative Care Team.
In year three community placement students may be allocated to St.David’s Foundation for two-three week maximum, rotating to or from their main community base placement, to gain particular insight into community palliative care nursing.
Shifts:
09.00-17.00 Monday – Friday or by arrangement with supervising mentor.
No evening, night duty or weekend working required.
Dress Code:
No Uniform
Smart Casual Dress
Flat dark shoes No jewellery / perfumes
Minimal make up
Students must have their ID badge on display at all times whilst on St. David’s bases and in clients homes.
