Key Learning Opportunities:
2 CFP students maximum and 2 adult branch students maximum on medical placement at any one time. If these numbers are exceeded they cannot be accommodated on A7.
Learning opportunities: Principles of general nursing care including assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of medical patients; Management of infection control; Management of adult clients with diabetes; Management of adult clients with a range of wounds; Management of adult clients requiring rehabilitation physiotherapy; Preparation and management of adult clients being discharged from the acute medical setting to the community and/or other health care settings; Management of adult clients with tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases; Interdisciplinary working and liaison; Opportunities to development insights into the role of all members of the multidisciplinary team.
Note: students on their adult branch year two medical placement are rotated (one at a time) for one week each of the six week placement to DGUM at Cardiff Royal Infirmary to gain insights into the services provided their, i.e. sexual health, sexual health promotion, sexual health outreach services, continued care of clients affected by HIV/AIDS (compliments the infectious diseases nature of A7). This opportunity also gives students the opportunity to gain insights into how this service liaises with the prison service, secondary schools and varied charitable organisations (e.g. Terence Higgins Trust) that provide sexual health advice and support.

2 maximum in module nine management placement only by prior arrangement with manager
