Remit: 

Acute respiratory medicine

Clients: 

Respiratory and general medical patients

Key Learning Opportunities: 

  • Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of medical patients
  • MDT working- social workers, dieticians, physiotherapists, SALT and specialist nurses such as the respiratory, diabetic, palliative care, infection control and tissue viability nurses
  • Caring for patients receiving oxygen therapy and Non Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NIPPV)
  • Blood glucose and peak flow monitoring
  • Caring for patients pre and post procedures i.e. pleural aspirations and investigations i.e. thorascopy and bronchoscopy
  • Health promotion and patient education in relation to the following areas; diet and COPD, deep breathing exercises, inhaler technique smoking

Shifts:

  • 8:00-20:30
  • 20:00-08:30
