An Exploratory study of the role of teachers in assisting children with coordination problems in a Welsh Valley
Coordination difficulties occur in approximately 6% of children, and can have detrimental effects on their development (both social and physical). Although coordination programmes are available for use in school, and are often recommended by occupational therapists, these are seldom used. Therefore this qualitative research study aims to explore teachers’ perceptions of the role they can play in assisting the children with coordination problems in the school setting, In addition appropriate programme material to assist teachers in this role will be examined and appraised. Four focus groups will be used to gain the primary school teachers' views, and the data will be analysed using thematic analysis.
