The Vice Chancellor, Dr David Grant, formally opened the new newly refurbished Radiography Imaging Suite on Wednesday 9 December 2009. At a small ceremony attended by representatives of the equipment suppliers and those who had facilitated the development, as well as staff and students from the Department of Radiography David Grant formally opened the new suite.
In addition to a complete refurbishment, a variety of new equipment has been installed including a new floor mounted x-ray system, an ultrasound scanner, a Fuji CR reader plus plates, a Carestream CR reader plus plates, a laser printer and a PACS system. This new facility will greatly assist in the education and training of diagnostic radiographers. It will also provide a facility which can be shown to intending students and, along with the VERT facility on the 4th floor, allows the Department of Radiography to compete in a much better manner with other Departments of Radiography in the UK.
On the occasion of the opening, the Vice Chancellor was shown the new facilities by staff and students in the Department of Radiography and indicated that he was very impressed with what had been done in the limited space thanks to hard work and the goodwill of a significant number of outside individuals and agencies.
