On 27th November, Edwina Hart, the Minister for Health and Social Care, opened the new Cardiff University Radiography Virtual Environment Suite at a ceremony held in the School’s home building, Ty Dewi Sant, on the Heath Park Campus.

The suite contains a facility which provides a 3D simulation of the radiotherapy environment in which students will work during clinical placements and on graduation from the School.

Its most immediate use will be to provide training for the 1st year students ahead of them going on clinical placements so that they will already be familiar with the nature and use of the equipment that they will employ during those placements. However the design of the equipment and the very high specification involved means that over time the facility can be developed for a much wider set of educational purposes and can also be used for relevant research
