Prof Patricia Price 

Professor Patricia Price is Pro Vice-Chancellor, Student Experience & Academic Standards. She is responsible for the University’s programmes of study, its academic standards and the quality of the student experience. Her specific responsibilities include oversight of the development of the University’s education strategy, its implementation and monitoring; the quality of the student experience at Cardiff; oversight of the University Graduate College and the University’s widening access activities. As Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Price is also a member of the University Executive Board.

Professor Patricia Price is a Chartered Health Psychologist who has worked at Cardiff University since 1996. Her research focuses on patients with chronic non-healing wounds - particularly in patients with diabetic foot ulcers and sequelae of burn injuries: her work includes the measurement of patient experiences of living with wounds, patient awareness of risk, patient experience of care, and non-medical outcome measures including health economics, health-related quality of life and methods of evaluating care. During her time at Cardiff, Professor Price has been Director of the University’s Wound Healing Research Unit (2002-2006) and Dean and Head of the University’s School of Healthcare Studies (2010- date).

Professor Price has a significant record of winning external funding for research, including UK and international multi-centre Randomised Controlled Clinical Trials. During her career, Professor Price has published over 150 peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and is a reviewer for a range of grant awarding bodies in the area of health. She sits on the editorial board for several journals and is Statistical Advisor to International Wound Journal.

Professor Price is Chair of the Patient Outcome Group for the European Wound Management Association, having just competed 7 years as a Member of Council, and Secretary to the organisation. She is Chair of the Steering Group for the All Wales Rehabilitation Network. She is a Trustee of Interburns, a charity dedicated to education and training in burn care for low-middle income countries, and has just taken part in an international group review of standards of care in Nepal. Professor Price took up the role of Pro Vice Chancellor for Student Experience and Academic Standards in September 2012.
