I have been a lecturer at Cardiff University since 2012 where initially I worked as an associate lecturer before becoming a full-time lecturer in 2013. Prior to lecturing, I was working as the physiotherapy team leader for Critical Care and Surgery in the University Hospital of Wales.
In my team leader role I was responsible for the leadership and management to a team providing physiotherapy services to a tertiary critical care unit and specialist surgical services. My particular clinical interest is in the physiotherapy management of patients on the enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) programmes for colorectal and upper gastrointestinal procedures.
My teaching is predominantly on cardiovascular-respiratory topics across all three years of the undergraduate physiotherapy programme. I will also be co-module lead for a new module starting in 2015 on the topics of acute care, rehabilitation, paediatrics, ageing and chronic disease and acute care. I am also module lead for the cardio-respiratory physiology and pathophysiology module at MSc level. I am a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Respiratory Care and on their journal review panel.
