Watching, Listening, Reading and Clicking: Representing multi-modal qualitative data’
I worked with Bella Dicks and other members of the Qualiti team, in the National Centre for Research Methods to co-author a 20-minute ethnographic film, a hypermedia ‘web-essay’ using multiple media and a conventional written paper. The content of each one presented the same analysis – from an earlier multimodal ethnography exploring how visitors and staff engaged with the exhibitionary spaces and practices of ‘science communication’ in an interactive science discovery museum The aim in this second project was to carry forward insights about different media afforded different meanings and interpretations by audiences/readers/viewers.
