From 1999 to 2005, Ralph Fevre lead an inter-disciplinary study of the attempt to create ‘inclusive governance’ in the new devolved layer of government in Wales, the National Assembly. The study began when the Assembly assumed its powers in 1999 and it has entailed extensive research amongst politicians, civil servants and the organizations of civic society in Wales.
Aims of Project
Since 2001 this stream of research has included an ESRC project on Social Capital and the Participation of Marginalised Groups in Government (ESRC Award R000239410). For outputs from this project search ESRC Society Today. Together with Paul Chaney, Ralph Fevre is preparing a book on Civil Society, Morality and Social Theory which will bring together the empirical and theoretical lessons of this stream of research.
