School Subjects, Subject Communities and Curriculum Change: the Social Construction of Economics in the School Curriculum

This peer reviewed journal article, arises out of my earlier work on school subject histories, taking a social constructionist perspective.  Returning to the original empirical data provided an opportunity to build on Bernstein’s theoretical concept of pedagogic discourse and to go further than other earlier investigations to better illustrate the interplay of power and control between official agents, academic and school subject communities.
