written by Sara Delamont and Neil Stephens draws on the Qualiti
affiliated project 'Diasporic Capoeira:
An Ethnographic Enquiry'.

August 2007 - Commissioned Inquiry Report available for download
The final report from our first Commissioned Inquiry is now available
for download from the website, accessed via the publications
section. The inquiry was led by Professor Mick Bloor and focussed
on the risk to well-being of researchers in qualitative research.
The report was recently the subject of an article featured in
the THES, visit the THES

5 July 2007 - Interdisciplinary
Seminar Series 2007
The Interdisciplinary Seminar Series returned
this year with the first of two seminars taking place on 12 June
themed on 'Developling mobile methods. The second seminar will
take place at Cardiff University on Tuesday 18 September and is
entitled: 'Qualitative Research and Arts Practice: The potential
for research capacity building'. Speakers includes Professor Brian
Robert, Dr Kip Jones, Professor Martin Hughes and Professor Frances
Rapoort.

will be available in paperback in the Spring of 2007. For

The international journal Qualitative Research, edited
by Paul Atkinson and Sara Delamont, currently published quarterly
is increasing to 5 issues a year from 2008. Copies are available
from the Sage
website.

November 2006 - RM Training Bursaries - call for applications
ESRC Bursaries for Training
In order to stimulate the uptake of high quality training courses
the ESRC Research Resources Board makes available 50 bursaries
each year for up to £1,000 each to enable HEFC-funded staff in
the UK engaged in teaching methods or supervising research to
update their skills. Contract researchers working in HEIs are
also eligible to apply.
The deadline for applications under the current call is 30 November
2006 and applicants will be notified in December.
