eCrime Reduction Partnership Mapping Study Launched

11 September 2012

Cracking e-CrimeThe eCrime Reduction Partnership Mapping Study, a report written by Professor Michael Levi and Dr Matthew Williams of the Cardiff School of Social Sciences, was launched at the House of Commons last night to a full audience.

The report highlights the potential for the prevention of Internet based crime should Governments, the police and other organisations work together in partnership. Alun Michael, MP for Cardiff South and Penarth, stated that the report provided the carefully argued evidence for such partnerships that had been sought for so long.

The Minister with responsibility for cyber security, James Brokenshire, made a speech as did the joint chairs of the Parliamentary Internet Group PICTFOR.  There was a lively discussion of the issues.

The report has also appeared in the media, featuring in a news article run by the South Wales Echo and the Western Mail, which can be read here and on the Cardiff University News Centre, here.
