Culture, Imagination and Practice Research Group present:

Speaker: Jamie Lewis

'Where Research and Engagement Meet: Endeavouring to Bring Rigour to Public Engagement'

The talk will centre around my current post at the MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics (www.cf.ac.uk/cngg) as a social science researcher who is tasked with running their public engagement programme (www.genomicminds.co.uk). As part of this role we (the public engagement team at the Centre) have run a number of public engagement events such as Cardiff sciSCREEN, and we are also working with artists, short story writers and film writers. This talk will describe the programme of events and packages that have been developed or being developed, while discussing the - sometimes uneasy - marriage between engagement,  and research into engagement.
