Qualifications

A lawyer by profession, Jean is on official leave from the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) where she worked for 10 years as Hearing Officer. She graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines with a degree in Bachelor of Arts Major in Political Science on 1994. She earned her Bachelor of Laws from the San Beda College, Philippines and entered the Bar in the year 2000. As a Sasakawa Foundation scholar, she obtained her Master of Science Degree in Maritime Affairs specializing in Maritime Administration from the World Maritime University (WMU), Malmo, Sweden in 2003.

She is currently a SIRC/Nippon Foundation Research Postgraduate Fellow at the School of Social Sciences of the Cardiff University. She recently earned her Diploma in Social Science Research Methods for school year 2010 to 2011. She is on her first year for the writing phase of her Ph.D thesis.
