Dr Robin Smith
Teaching Profile
I am currently a lecturer in Social Sciences. I convene Sociology, Society and Social Change (Y1) and co-convene Power, Culture and Identity (Y3). I teach qualitative methods at both UG and PG levels and contribute to Cardiff’s ESRC Doctoral Training Centre provision. I supervise a number of students for their BSc and MSc dissertations.
I am interested in supervising doctoral research in any of the areas or interests listed above: please contact me directly if you are interested in doctoral studying at SOCSI.
Memberships and professional contribution
I am the BSA CITIES Study Group convenor and organise the ‘Cities’ stream at the BSA Annual Conference. I am also a member of the Royal Geographical Society, I review for international journals such as Qualitative Sociology, History of the Human Sciences, Sociology, and Qualitative Research. I alsocontribute to WISERD’s ongoing programme of training and capacity building in Wales.
