Organising the Workplace
- Help project a visible recruitment presence in targeted areas, including problem hot spots.
- Map potential membership across the University and work out areas where recruitment should be a priority.
- Inform members of local issues by updating branch web pages or the Facebook page, or by helping to prepare draft news items.
- Prepare and analyse member surveys.
Casework
Join the Cardiff UCU Casework team, get trained, and enjoy the satisfaction of helping colleagues resolve problems they have at work.
Departmental Representative
Be a first point of contact with Cardiff UCU for colleagues in your local work area. Facilitate communication with colleagues in your work area and keep us informed of local workplace issues.
Branch Delegate
Represent Cardiff UCU at regional and national conferences, including specialised conferences for particular groups of staff (e.g. various equality strands or workplace issues like research staff, academic-related staff, hourly-paid staff, fixed-term contracts).Branch Committee
Join Cardiff UCU Executive Committee to help set priorities and steer your local union in the right direction. Training is available. Women and members who identify with a particular equality strand are especially encouraged.To get involved, contact the Cardiff UCU office:
