Medieval History of Britain, Europe and the Middle East represents an area of longstanding research strength.
Research currently includes work on: the Normans in Europe, Britain and Ireland; the history of Anglo-Scottish frontier to c.1200; Medieval masculinities; Heresy trials; biography and history; Medieval slavery; Medieval monasticism; the English Gentry; visual history and social display, as well as research on the history of the crusades, Byzantium, English social history (12th-15th centuries) and Italian history (12th-15th centuries).
