A new dating technique has given the first detailed picture of life in Stone Age Britain, more than 5000 years ago.
Congratulations to Conservation graduate Abigail Carter who has been shortlisted for a 2011 IWA Inspire Wales Award. The names of the IWA Inspire Wales Awards category winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony and Dinner to be held at the Cardiff City Hall on 17 June 2011.
An archaeological project The Catacombs of Anubis has been awarded the Andante Travels Archaeological Award for 2011. Andante Travels is a British company specialising in archaeological tourism and owned by an archaeologist, and their award is designed to provide support for a project which has both archaeological significance and public appeal. The £2000 award presented to the project director is to be used to support the work of the project.
Over the next month there will be a series of articles in the Western Mail by historians in Wales looking critically at the idea of "Heroes and Villians" featuring contributions from staff from the History Department.
Mark Pitchford, who received his PhD from Cardiff in 2009, has just published his first book, The Conservative Party and the extreme right 1945-75 (Manchester 2011) based on the research he undertook as part of his PhD.
