Level Two Modules
Understanding Level Two
Level Two modules aim to build on the foundations of Year One study. That is, they aim to broaden and expand your knowledge of different religious traditions, and the ways in which they can be studied academically. As such, Level Two courses will expect more of you in terms of effort and analysis and will generally seek to challenge existing preconceptions. Textual study is another feature of Level Two modules within the Department. Language study is an important part of the Department's degree programmes and a number of our Level Two courses seek to extend this through context-based textual study. Level Two modules count towards your final degree result and thus another major feature of such courses is their skills component. That is, these modules will help you to acquire and develop the range of academic skills you will need in Level Three.
The Department's degree programme has flexibility built into it and as such, you can take both Level Two and Level Three courses in your second year. However, in order to proceed into the third year automatically, you must successfully complete 120 credits of study in Year Two. The programme's degree regulations provide further information and should be read in conjunction with the information given here.
