Career Overview

I came to Cardiff after post-doctoral work at The Protestant Theological University of the Netherlands and the University of Strasbourg. I have held visiting fellowships at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies at the University of Oxford.

Teaching Profile

Classical Hebrew; Judaism (principally ancient Judaism); and Hebrew Bible/Old Testament.

Awards and Prizes

I have been awarded numerous research grants and scholarships, including from the Rothschild Foundation Europe, la Fondation Académie Hillel, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the British Academy, the AHRC, and the Spalding Trust.

During my time at Durham I was awarded the Van Mildert Theology Scholarship, the Watkins Hebrew Scholarship, and the Anita Milne Scholarship.

Membership and External Activity

I am an Honorary Research Associate at the Department of Hebrew and Jewish Studies, University College London, and an Honorary Research Fellow of the Council for British Research in the Levant.

I am a member of the International Organisation for Targum Studies (Executive committee member); the Society for Old Testament Study; the European Association for Jewish Studies; the World Union of Jewish Studies; and The Society of Biblical Literature.
