Degree Programmes
We offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Archaeology and in Conservation, and our students benefit from being part of a large, well-managed and funded university. As part of the Cardiff School of History, Archaeology & Religion, we collaborate closely with our colleagues in Ancient History, History and Welsh History and Religious Studies & Theology and we work with many other departments in other parts of the university.
Strong Cardiff traditions of teaching and research focus on fieldwork carried out on a global scale and laboratory analytical work at the cutting edge of archaeological science and conservation. Our trademarks are hands-on practical excellence and innovative interpretive research and publication.
Commercial Services
We offer a range of commercial services. We have an established conservation practice providing professional artefact conservation and collections care advice for clients throughout the UK and beyond. Our archaeological draughtsmen can provide illustrations, plans and maps as well as layout and design publications and posters.

Undergraduate
As the largest archaeology department in the region, we pride ourselves in providing undergraduate degree courses which are both comprehensive and flexible. We are able to offer a full range of archaeological courses from cutting-edge theory and science through to excavation and illustration skills, and which cover a chronological range from the Mesolithic and Neolithic, through ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome to the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings and the castles of the crusader period. At the same time, within our BSc and BA schemes we allow the student to exercise a great deal choice in what they study and to specialise in their areas of interest.
Our unique Conservation BSc offers the possibility of three years engaging with artefacts and their preservation with a view to a future career in museums and the conservation profession.
