Salary

We reward our staff with competitive salaries with annual cost of living increases.

Pension

We offer the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) linked to your salary. Staff and the University both make percentage contributions to the pension which may vary from time to time. If you join us from an NHS employer and have been a member of the NHS pension scheme you may be able to remain in that scheme.

University Facilities

A wide range of facilities are available including: state-of-the-art computer services; libraries; public concerts and lectures; a wide range of catering facilities and a social Staff Association.

Employee Wellbeing

We are committed to supporting and promoting the wellbeing of our staff through the Positive Working Environment initiative, Dignity at Work policy and our Occupational Health and Counselling Services. We offer generous sick pay arrangements if you are absent due to ill health. Staff can use the University�s range of sports and recreation facilities with reduced rates on a variety of fitness classes. Staff who use Display Screen Equipment are entitled to regular free eye tests.

Work/Life Balance Policies

For staff with family/caring responsibilities we offer a package of family friendly policies including the right to request part-time or flexible working and time off for dependents. Our maternity, adoption and paternity leave policies offer the best provision for staff rather than simply meeting the legal minimum.

Childcare

We have a Day Care centre, which provides care for 64 children aged between 10 weeks and 5 years for our staff and students. We provide two Childcare vouchers schemes to provide a flexible way to support childcare costs; one scheme where your children are in our Day Care Centre and another where your children use nurseries and childcare minders outside the University.

Leave

You receive a leave entitlement of 37 days plus 8 public holidays per year from your first day of employment with us.

As a member of academic staff you may also apply for study leave to allow you to develop research or teaching activities for the benefit of the University as well as your own personal development

Relocation

We offer financial assistance to new staff who relocate to take up their new appointment at Cardiff University.
