Security & Portering Services primary operations are divided between ‘Security Services’ and ‘Portering Services’.

Security Services’ consists of 5 security shifts, 4 of which have a Supervisor and a team of 12 Campus Patrol Officers who operate on a continuous shift pattern to provide cover for the University and University Residences. The remaining shift consists of 6 staff who provide additional cover during busy periods and events.
The Officers, whose duties are coordinated by the Control Room, are strategically deployed across the University campus and University Residences to provide a professional security service, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. ‘Security Services’ work in close liaison with the police, Students’ Union and all members of the University.
‘Security Services’ provides a customer-led range of services to the University, including a Personal Safety and Security Guide and the provision of ID Cards to staff and students.
