The Head of Security & Portering Services is supported by the Security Operations Manager and the Services Manager, with the assistance of 9 support/clerical staff. Operations are divided between ‘Security Services’ and ‘Portering Services’.
‘Security Services’ consists of 4 security shifts, each with a Supervisor and a team of 14 Campus Patrol Officers who operate on a continuous shift pattern to provide cover for the University and University Residences.
The Officers are deployed at strategic locations across the University campus. Patrol Officer duties are coordinated in the Control Room which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 24-hour security cover is provided for the University campus and University Residences, and ‘Security Services’ work in close liaison with the police, Students’ Union and all parts of the University.
‘Security Services’ provides a customer-led range of services to the University, including a Personal Safety and Security Guide, the provision of ID Cards to staff and students and the provision of a professional security service to support the whole University community. For more information on these services or to access our Personal Safety and Security Guide, please use the links on the left-hand side of this page.
Our aim is to encourage and ensure, as far as reasonably practicable, safe and secure environments for all users of the University.
This statement applies to all land and buildings owned or occupied by the University, and other possessions owned by, or in the temporary care of the University, including materials, equipment and vehicles.
