The seagrass story continues
18th November 2011
The importance of seagrass meadows and their conservation continue to attract attention as Dr Leanne Cullen-Unsworth writes a guest science feature for the SeaWeb ‘science in the spotlight’ feature.
Seaweb is an international, nonprofit organisation working specifically to communicate on a range of issues about the amazing oceans around us. It works collaboratively to transform science based solutions into action on these urgent issues facing our oceans, such as climate change, pollution and declining marine biodiversity.
November 2011 is seagrass month and over the month, the international marine conservation website SeaWeb.org in collaboration with the World Seagrass Association has been running a range of features highlighting the importance of seagrass meadows. Dr Cullen-Unsworth was asked to write a short piece on her ideas about seagrass and food security to help highlight the importance of these ecosystems.
