Applications are being sought for a prestigious interdisciplinary studentship, starting in October 2010.
The full-time studentship is open to candidates in either the natural or social sciences, with the successful candidate having the opportunity of working at a wildlife sanctuary in Malaysia.
Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council(ESRC) and Natural Environment Research Council(NERC), the project will address the management of ecosystems in the context of the complex interplay between social, economic and ecological needs.
Studying the Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary in Eastern Sabah (Malaysia) and its conservation plans, the research aims to reduce the apparent governance ‘misfit’ between physical environments, ecosystems, and social institutions.
The Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary in Eastern Sabah, is the location of a Cardiff University sponsored Danau Girang Field Centre.
