The Sustainable Places Research Institute was an innovative, cross-disciplinary meeting place for developing place-based solutions to global problems of sustainability and the environment.

The Institute was an internationally-recognised hub for debate and interdisciplinary research, exploring pragmatic, policy-led locally-based solutions for individual cities, regions and nations.

A unique meeting place for examining global unsustainable practices, the Institute brought together a wide range of academic disciplines and communities to help partners work together and find answers meaningful for them, their localities and their values.

The Sustainable Places Research Institute leaves behind a valuable legacy of work which has reframed research agendas, generated new tools and methods, and informed international and national practice.
