Professor Yacine Rezgui
Professor Yacine Rezgui is an architect with a PhD in Computer Science. He is a BRE (Building Research Establishment) Chair in Sustainable Engineering, and is based in the School of Engineering.
He specialises in the deployment and adoption of Information and Communication Technologies in the built environment.
He has completed more than 17 research projects funded by the EU and EPSRC in areas related to knowledge engineeering, virtual organisations, and service-oriented computing. He has within these projects developed solutions to support collaboration and cooperation needs of (global) virtual teams across the lifecycle of a construction project; promote knowledge management practices, value creation and sustainability in organisations and on projects; and provide total lifecycle information models with a view of delivering a dynamic and self-updating digital representation of a building.
His current research is in the area of adaptable digital buildings. This involves re-thinking construction and enhancing buildings to have lifelong resiliency and adaptability to their environment, usage and occupancy, enabled by smart 'high value' building components with embedded intelligence.
