About the Postgraduate Cardiff Neuroscience Society (PCNS)
We are a society developed to let Cardiff postgraduates from many disciplines meet, interact and discuss. There are multiple schools directly involved in the field of neuroscience and we hope to provide a platform for people from different research area's concerned with neuroscience to share thoughts and ideas about neuroscience in a much broader sense.
Also, we hope to bring neuroscience to a higher level by organizing interdisciplinary Neuroscience Cafe's and discuss our own view on neuroscience with people from disciplines outside of neuroscience, on topics related to both areas.
If you are interested in Neuroscience; come to one of our social events; join the discussion during our Neuroscience Cafe's or just contact us! We hope to be able to provide support and feedback to anyone who wants to know about neuroscience.
Mission Statement
“The postgraduate Cardiff Neuroscience Society (PCNS) was founded in 2008 as a means of providing a warm friendly environment for postdocs and post-graduate students at Cardiff University to meet and share ideas about neuroscience, and discuss the implications of neuroscience research. The PCNS aims to provide mature discussion about contemporary neuroscience topics in a way that is respectful and open-minded. To this end the PCNS organises several themed interdisciplinary neuroscience cafes per year, each of which pulls together neuroscientists and people from other disciplines. The PCNS also organises social events that provide an ideal opportunity for people to have fun and develop friendships.”
We are thankful to the Research and Graduate School for giving us the opportunity to start development of our society and funding us for 2008-2009 and we have many thanks for the Cardiff Neurosciences Centre for always supporting us and providing us with funding (2008-2010) and resources.
