Confirming your offer

This page gives you information about what action you need to take once you have received your results, in order to confirm your offer at Cardiff University.

Receipt of results

If your exam results are sent to UCAS directly by the awarding body, then you do not need to send copies to the University unless specifically requested.  All the qualifications that will be automatically sent to the University are listed on the UCAS website: http://www.ucas.com/how-it-all-works/undergraduate/results/how-your-exam-results-get-your-unis-and-colleges 

If your results are not sent directly to UCAS you must provide official evidence to the Admissions Team as soon as they become available by uploading a copy of your official certificate or transcript via the on-line application service at http://sims.cf.ac.uk.  If you are not able to upload a copy of your results, you can email, post or fax them to us using the contact details below.  

It is very important that you notify us of any new or amended results.  The University will confirm your place if you satisfy the conditions of your offer by 31 August.  The University has discretion in confirming decisions which are dependent on results you submit after 31 August, including improved grades arising from an awarding body appeal.

Confirmation of your place

Check the status of your application on the UCAS on-line Applicant Enquiry Service (‘Track’) http://www.ucas.com/ using your application number and password.  If UCAS sends your results directly to us then this service will be available from Thursday 14th August 2014.  UCAS updates University decisions throughout the day, so it is worth checking periodically to see whether Track has changed.

If you have met or exceeded your offer conditions then you do not need to contact the University.  You can find information about preparing your arrival in September 2014 at http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/for/new/ 

If you have not met the terms of your offer the University will aim to confirm its decision on Thursday 14 August 2014.  You can check the status of your application using UCAS Track.  If your place is confirmed then you do not need to contact the University.  If no decision is made but you want advice about the progress or outcome of the decision then you can contact the relevant admissions tutor from the list available in the top-right corner of this page. Once a decision has been made it will be available on UCAS Track.

If you have not met the terms of your offer but are appealing any of your exam results, the University is unable to review its decision until it has received the outcome of your appeal. Insurance applicants firmly placed with Cardiff University

If you accepted Cardiff as your insurance choice, but are subsequently firmly placed with us, you can apply online for a place in University residences as soon as your offer is confirmed.  More detailed information about the individual residences including fees, facilities and location can be found online at: http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/for/prospective/residences/ 

Nominating an alternative person to act on your behalf

If you are going to be unavailable around results time then you need to know that the University is bound by the Data Protection Act 1998 to treat your personal information and application information as confidential.  The University can only disclose information to anyone other than you if you give your express permission.

If you have provided details of a named contact in your UCAS application you do not need to provide the information again.  If you have not done this, then you can notify the Admissions Team (details at the bottom of the page) either by letter or email of anyone who you authorise to discuss your application and make decisions on your behalf.
