Sanskrit (Classical)

Only available to BA students This set of double modules (RT1106 and RT1107: 40 credits) provides a basic introduction to the primary language of Indian culture and religion, and leads to the study of a set text from a major Indian scripture (Bhagavad Gita or Bodhicayavatara). Students must take both modules. Teaching is through language classes and exercises. No previous language learning or experience is required or expected. Languages are windows to culture. All students are welcome, though students are normally only allowed to take one beginners language in any year. An A-level in Religious Studies is NOT required. Mature students are welcome. These are not available as individual modules. See Also: Religious Studies and Theological Studies. Timetable Group A.
