Language is available as an additional subject to all First Year Humanities and Social Studies students, and no special previous qualifications are required. However, timetable restrictions apply, and therefore the subject cannot be taken together with Ancient History, Economics or Theological Studies. Language is an excellent complementary subject to the study of a particular language, or literature of a language (e.g. Welsh, English, or a European Studies subject, Education, Sociology or Philosophy).
This subject is compulsory for students on the BA English Language and students on Joint Honours programmes with English Language. Students on the BA English Language are also required to take Communication plus a third subject.
All students take both double (20 credit) modules.
